I need to move to a new web hosting provider ASAP. Should be a provider that i can pay monthly basis. I am currently looking @ $5 to $9 a month.

I have selected some of providers. Please feel free to leave your personal experience as well.

I never used something lower than $30/mo (currently at mediatemple for $100 plan) but bluehost is the best I’ve heard so far as a low cost hosting provider. I learned 1 thing: you get what you pay for. Good luck!

Go with Dreamhost - I’ve never had a better host for that price. I was a big fan of ASmallOrange but as soon as my year is up I am switching back to DH.

On ASO, my server magically reconfigures itself in crazy ways. I just gave up trying to fix it - I don’t worry about being able to do anything other than make posts on my blog because the server magically re-chmods directories. I don’t worry about accessing my GMail for Domains via my real domain (I use the full google.com path) because the server magically reconfigures itself and if one of my sites goes down - well, I’ll get to it eventually.

Because the server magically reconfigures itself.

You may just have signed up for the wrong plan. There’s managed hosting and magic hosting.

    web hosting makes me ill!

i thought i was happy ... now i’m not sure.

the only great server i’ve ever had was $330 a month plan for a dedicated server from softlayer. that was like the lamborghini of web hosting.

in the low cost reseller plan world, i moved to spry about 2 months ago and got their CPanel VPS 200 - http://www.spry.com/cpanel-vps/.

the server is either dog ass slow (i don’t think that’s it because my CI page render note at the bottom of the page is always fast ... and i upload large XLS files to it and parse them and insert into a mysql table and that is fast too)

... or the network connection is so strained that it takes a while for the packets to fly out of their network.

you think you find hosting nirvana ... and here i am again reading threads like this one.

maybe it’s this ... i’m unmetered ... this sounds like my gripe actually now that i review this ... http://www.spry.com/hosting/

      *  Metered Bandwidth: a measure of the total amount of data transfer per month allowed by a hosting plan. Exceeding this amount will typically result in an overage fee assessed per GB of data transfer in excess of quota.
      * Unmetered Bandwidth: does not measure the total amount of data transfer, but limits throughput by capping the maximum rate at which the website is able to send and receive data.

Yonti are great, and Tom Glover from this forum owns it, so you will get first hand support.

I actually go with liquidweb. Support is top notch. A bit pricy though; I am currently paying 50/mo for a VPS.

We used to have SliceHost boxes for all of our sites and were constantly wasting time ensuring that everything was secure and stable.

We moved all of our sites to EngineHosting and have not looked back. They dont oversell nor do they fool you by posting numbers that really mean nothing (Like unlimited bandwidth and diskspace). They treat you like you actually know what you are wanting. With them it is like having your own personal server maintenance team. And well they quality of service and stellar hardware more than make up for 800gbs of promised space that I would never use.

A friend of mine runs a software company and uses Wiredtree.com .The package he has is grossly under used so he offers simple, economical hosting available from DoubleDollarHosting.com

Check it out it just may suit your needs.
