Problem in pointing now that we have an ordered list

    I don’t understand how to change where the original place is being linked to. Instead of this code which used to work before the ordered list was implemented—it now just goes to the last person’s bio in each case. How do I fix this?

    Attorneys

    Frank P. Angel

    Meredith A. Lobel-Angel

    Erin C. Ganahl

    September Hopper

    Staff

    Catherine Vincent-Falquet

    Evan Becket (Legal Practice Manager)

    Mona Hatoum (Legal Intern)

    The C6 and C7 that the designer put in there are deforming where this should be pointing to.

    Without us knowing how your site is set-up, it’s likely your designer is the best person to answer this.

    What URL should each of these point to?

    Each of those links is pointing to what appears to be a category, rather than an individual page. Is there any chance you can post your EE code so we can see what it’s doing? I’d have thought you’d want a {url_title} in there somewhere to make sure you hit the right page.

    That’s not an ordered list by the way. I think in the case of the above you’d probably want to use an UNordered list:

    <ul>
        <li><a href="http://www.angellaw.com/attorney/C6/">Frank P. Angel</a></li>
        <li><a href="http://www.angellaw.com/attorney/C6/">Meredith A. Lobel-Angel</a></li>
    </ul>

    Or perhaps a definition list:

    <dl>
        <dt>Attorneys</dt>
        <dd><a href="http://www.angellaw.com/attorney/C6/">Frank P. Angel</a></dd>
        <dd><a href="http://www.angellaw.com/attorney/C6/">Meredith A. Lobel-Angel</a></dd>
    </dl>

    Not a show stopper, but certainly more ‘correct’.

    Thank you kind people who responded. This was ultimately solved as follows:

    Attorneys

    Frank P. Angel

    Meredith A. Lobel-Angel

    Erin C. Ganahl

    September Hopper

    Staff

    Catherine Vincent-Falquet

    Evan Becket (Legal Practice Manager)

    Mona Hatoum (Legal Intern)

    I actually need to better familiarize myself with the structure set up by the developer. This is simple linking and nothing more…..

    Glad you got it sorted out!

    If you wanted to take a step further to make it a little more semantic, you could remove the line breaks and use a list (since it’s a list of the attorneys).

    <h4>Attorneys</h4>

    <p><ul id="attorneys"><br />
        <li><a href="/attorney/frank_p_angel">Frank P. Angel</a></li><br />
        <li><a href="/attorney/meredith_a_lobel">Meredith A. Lobel-Angel</a></li><br />
        <li><a href="/attorney/erin_ganahl">Erin C. Ganahl</a></li><br />
        <li><a href="/attorney/september_hopper">September Hopper</a></li><br />
    </ul></p>

    <h4>Staff</h4>

    <p><br />
    <ul id="staff"><br />
        <li><a href="/attorney/catherine_vincent_falquet">Catherine Vincent-Falquet</a></li><br />
        <li><a href="/attorney/evan_becket_intern">Evan Becket (Legal Practice Manager)</a></li><br />
        <li><a href="/attorney/mona_hatoum_legal_intern">Mona Hatoum (Legal Intern)</a></li><br />
    </ul>

    And add this to your stylesheet if you don’t want bullets or indentation on your lists.

    #attorneys ul, #staff ul {
        list-style-type: none;
        padding-left: 0;
        }
