No Weblog Data: Server Issue?

    Ok, i’ve built a site locally on MAMP using EE 1.6.8, and uploaded it to my clients server, changed the server paths / settings like i always do on uploading their sites etc. But this time, it seems like it isn’t displaying any of the content between the exp:weblog tags?!

    I turned debugging on, and it seems like the weblog tags are looking for content, just not finding and displaying it.

    I’ve checked the database and the data is in there and all fine with no errors. I can also login to the system/admin panel of EE and all the data is there saved in the weblogs?

    What could be causing this, as i have never come across this problem before.

    Normally the server setup has been a bog standard setup, but this server is different and they have their own setup. I ran the Wizard on the server and everything was there, and installed?

    I rang them and they are as stumped as me, and asked to contact you to see if you knew of any server setting that could cause this problem.

    The URL in question is:

    http://www.warden.co.uk/new/

    As you can see, it only seems to be displaying part of the templates also.

    You are probably going to need to create a very minimal template to test this all out. Create a brand new template and literally just place a weblog tag in it and see if it outputs any data. If it doesn’t then check that whatever the weblog=”“ parameter is set to is the same as the weblog short name in the weblog preferences.

    It may well just be that these are not the same for some reason.

    When you say you updated all paths / settings, how did you do this?

    Best wishes,

    Mark

    Hi Mark

    I’ve just ran a basic test by adding this code:

    {exp:weblog:entries weblog="homepage" orderby="date"}
    {title}
    {/exp:weblog:entries}

    And it should display two page titles, but it displays nothing. This was the outcome: http://www.warden.co.uk/new/index.php/test/

    With the paths, what i mean is i changed all the paths in the system settings to the theme folder etc and also the FieldFrame paths, image upload paths, weblog paths - everything really that had the old URL.

    I do the same thing every time i do a site in EE, and it’s always been fine, kind of like a routine now! But i’ve checked it over 10x and everything is fine, but it just won’t display any content.

    If you just place some text into the template and no weblog tags does that text show up?

    One thing to check also is have you tried deleting everything in your system > cache folder?

    Best wishes,

    Mark

    Yeah the text shows up if i just type into the template, outside the tags.

    I have also deleted the cache before, because that has caused problems in the past. But no luck this time.

    If you go to :

    Admin->Weblog Administration->Weblog Management->Edit Preferences (Your Weblog)

    and check the Short Name for your weblog, is it the same there as you have in your weblog tag?

    Yeah, in both the ‘Your Weblog’ and the ‘Weblog’ parameter, it has “homepage”

    Thanks for the assist, Mark.

    MAYO, also double check that the entries aren’t still in the future, or have a status other than open.

    You can try adding show_future_entries = “yes” and status = “not closed”

    Does that help?

    All entries have the date of 16th March 2011, so they are not set in the future. All entries also have open status.

    Adding them parameters, still produces nothing…

    What I’d do is double check that the short name really is homepage. I’d then look at the exp_weblogs table

    You can do this from: Admin ›  Utilities ›  SQL Manager ›  Database Query Form

    select weblog_id, blog_name from exp_weblogs

    Is there a blog_name called homepage?

    Funny, this sounds oddly like the same issue I’m having.

    Hi Sue

    Just done exactly what you said and it definitely is Homepage and there is definitely a weblog called Homepage.

    See screenshots attached.

    Boyink! are you running a weird server setup, compared to your normal clients setup? This is my problem.

    See the thread that I linked to….😊 (CP loads fine, EE serves up static content, but weblog:entries tags are returning nothing & no errors are being generated).
