    Hi all,

Just want to let you know that I’ve just released a youtube fieldtype for expressionengine 2.x via the Devot:ee site. The fieldtype offers the following features:

    - Select videos for field from any youtube user’s videos
    - Set a global default user as well as the user for each field you create in a channel
    - Output the thumbnail or thumbnail url for a video
    - Output the youtube embed code for a video
    - Output thumbnail/video embed with custom width/height
    - Show the description and title for a video

It’s early days for this add-on so any feature requests/support needed will be gratefully received/given!

Without further ado, here’s the link:

    Other than that, enjoy!

Hey there - just purchased this add-on, it’s exactly what we need!
However, I’m experiencing something quite strange.

I’ve installed it on our DEV site as well as on our STAGING site, both are the same version of EE, same set of modules/field-types etc.. the primary difference is the server they are running on.  However, when I go to publish a new entry and view the TubEE fieldtype in action, the list only populates on the DEV site not the STAGING site :-(  Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    cheers
    Terry

    Terry,

That does sound a bit odd. Neither youtube nor vimeo are using API keys for the requests, so I don’t think it’s to do with them blocking the request (unless they dislike your staging domain that’s making the requests). Is this Youtube or Vimeo that is not being pushed into your list? Could you try the other (vimeo if you’re having issues with youtube, and vice versa)?

Let me know if that works/doesn’t work.

    Thanks,
    Charlie

Hey Charlie-  I tried that already (using different Vimeo and YouTube names) and it made no difference.  The site it actually works on is a subdomain, the one it does not is a regular www!

Anyhow, what we’re going to do anyways for the meantime is just use a plain text input field to store video ID’s because we don’t want to have to limit site managers to only one Youtube channel. It would be really cool if they could pick from a range of channels 😊

Ok, I’ll look into that for you. I am actually working on a different view for the field selection, and once implemented, I’d also be able to allow you to search for videos (or find all by certain users). I’ll keep you posted.

Could I have the two URLs you’re trying with? There may be some strange issue there, and I’d like to investigate (I don’t want to log into your sites). If you’d prefer to send them in a private message, please feel free to!

Charlie, I just purchased TubEE and I’m not able to get it to work at all. It’s just showing up blank. I’m pretty new at EE in general but I’m following the instructions given on DevotEE. Thanks.

When you say it’s showing up blank, do you mean the webpage you’ve got the tags on, or the dropdown of videos? Is this an issue with Vimeo, Youtube or both?

If it’s the template that’s causing issues, but the dropdown is fine (i.e. videos are appearing in the list), then can you show me the code you’re using?

    Thanks,
    Charlie

    Hey guys!

As per our guidelines we request that all third-party support be handled off-forum.  It looks like you’ve got this setup for support over on Devot-ee, so that may be your best option for continuing this support.

    Thank you!

    Hi,

before I want to purchase this, I wanna know, does TubEE support embeded HTML5 for Youtube and Vimeo?
And, btw, your plugin seams to be the only one who support the video duration 😊

    cheers

@macpro - It did for Vimeo, but not for Youtube until today - just released version 1.4.0 which uses iframe embed code for both, which means they should present an HTML 5 version if the user’s device does not support flash. Enjoy!

@joemo - I’ve not used safecracker and thus couldn’t guarantee its compatibility. I’ll look into that and let you know.

@macpro - the screenshots are now up on devot:ee, plus I’ve released version 2.1.0 of the add-on, including view counts for videos, new video selection method and bug fixes.
