This question may be related to a resolved thread.

We’re getting complaints from two different clients regarding viewing file names in the file manager. Currently there is no way to preview the full file name before selecting, making it a guessing game when several files begin with identical letters. Deviating from their naming convention isn’t an option.

For instance, if they have ten files related to a particular case, they all look like this in the file manager, even though the final digits are actually different:
    case_number_12
    case_number_12
    cast_number_12

I’m not sure if the above-referenced thread is the exact same issue, forgive me if this is a duplicate. The client that is most peeved is running EE v2.0.2pb0, Build: 20100430.

    Thanks for the help!

I’m having a similar issue with the client trying to attach files to posts. In 2.0 they can view the files but they can not see the full filename.  As you can see in the attached file, we have several numbered files with the same name prefix.  Is there a way to view files as a list or some other workround?

    Paw Paw,

What version and build of EE are you using?
This shouldn’t be the case in latest version.

    Sue,
Do I need to download and reinstall a new version of EE to do this?

    Hi,

It’s still quite hard to distinguish between different non-image files. As an interim measure it would be good if the title attribute for the thumbnail showed the filename instead of the path to the default thumbnail—See attached image. Displaying icons for common file types instead of the default thumbnail would also be good.

Long term, it would be great if there was a list view option for the modal file manager.

    Cheers,

    Dylan
