i really hate this. one of the ENOM bots stole my domain right after it was open to be bought again. i could not renew this domain because i registered it 3 years ago under a friends account and now he fell off the face of the earth. so i waited 30 days to get it back… then another 2 so it would be deleted oh and then 5 days for it to actualy become active… and then within the first 10 minutes of it being open a stupid domain bot steals it right from under me.

now this was not a high traffic site or anything but i did get around 200 unique visitors a day. it was a flash games website for people to play games while they were at school or work. nothing too great. i did have 1200 games but i didnt open it to google or set meta tags for just the purpose of not having it blocked my many of the filters that schools / workplaces put up.

so i have heard that when these domain bots register it if they dont get any requests on it within 10 days or so that they may release it back…. anyone have any experience with it? do they actually do this? i cant believe these people actually make money doing this. but i guess when you take something someone loves they will pay whatever you want them to to get it back… ahhh sorry for the rant…

I doubt you’ll get back your domain. I lost a “meaningless” domain a few years ago and it’s still being kept hostage by a domaining company.

Sadly these exists. I have a few domains myself that I let expired and some company or person registered them right away. There totally worthless for me, I do not know why they want them.  I think as the OP mentioned above about it having 200 Uniques a day. Still if parked that, it might make $20 or $30 with PPC on Sedo parking or something, then the traffic would dye off eventually but its profitable. This probably why they steal peoples domains. If you have an important domain.. do net let it expire or you’ll be very sorry with trying to get it back.

It sucks. I had it happen to me too a few years back. I originally had bramme.com registered. A bot claimed and it transferred from owner to owner apparently. A few months ago I was contact by someone who saw I owned bramme.net and wondered if I wanted the .com for 600$.

This thread reminded me off it, I went to check and apparently it’s up again…
