Installed Photo Gallery and all works correctly. Click on “preferences” link in EE created Template Group (photos, in my case) and attempt to change name of a template within the group and get the error message “The name you have chosen is a reserved word that can not be used.” Same message displays when attempting to reset the Hit Counter.

What are you trying to change the name to? There are a few names that are reserved and cannot be used. Also, what version and build of EE are you on?

Hi, thanks - I’ve tried several, they’re definitely not reserved words.

    version 1.6.5
    Build:  20081031

Can you confirm that you have no reserved words on this page

    Hi Greg!  Confirmed.

...and now updated to the most recent version/build - to rule that out as the possible cause.

    version 1.6.6
    Build:  20081114

Let’s keep digging here - we’ll focus on the gallery for now and not the hit counter since its easier to narrow down in the code.  That error is generated if the template group is using one of the reserved words mentioned by Greg that we’ve already ruled out, or if it is either the “Forum Triggering Word” (from CP Home ›  Modules ›  Discussion Forum ›  Your Forums ›  Forum Board Preferences ) or the “Profile Triggering Word” (from CP Home ›  Admin ›  Members and Groups ›  Membership Preferences).

What exact name are you using?  Can you try using “derek_suggested_this” as a template group name, just for now?

Thanks, Derek. I duplicated the “Photos” template group and named it “derek_suggested_this”. I then tried changing one of the already existing templates to a name other than any reserved word and received the same error. Under the new template group I created a new template named “random_add” successfully, I then tried changing the name “random_add” through the preferences link and received the error - so, templates can be created and then can’t be renamed. I tested the procedure in other template groups and am able to alter template names, reset hit counter as always. The error only shows in these template groups created by/duplicated from the photo gallery module.

Is there no resolution for this issue?

...just saw this from your news feed “Thanksgiving is here and we will not be offering official support Thursday and Friday” - you probably haven’t gotten back to this one yet, then. No problem, I’ll check back later. Hope all had a good Thanksgiving.

Yes, apologies - thanksgiving and the weekend.  We’re internally discussing a solution, but I can’t recreate this either locally or on a staging server… so it might be something specific to your server.  I’m not sure at this point.  Is there much data in your gallery - ie: would deleting it and recreating it with another name be a solution for you while we investigate this internally further?

internet endeavor - what templates do you have inside of that template group? I see another report where the template named “category” is causing a conflict, if you rename that, does that help?
