Googles new searchwiki nonsense

    I see that this searchwiki is not meant to impact search results (ie if you remove a search result it wont effect anyone elses search results) but i’m not convinced.

    Surely if enough people remove a listing it would be in googles interest to downgrade that listing’s importance for that search.

    I feel like this will be abused and it will make the whole SEO arena a nastier uglier place.

    Anyone got any thoughts on this?

    There was a time where the google page rank algorithm was vulnerable because of the weight of keywords which lead to situations where you searched dumb ass you got a link to the white house website.

    in the searchwiki case google states upfront it’s linked to your profile. If there are a lot of people doing the same for one link they could make it count in the page ranking but i don’t think they want to see the keyword situation repeated. If google stays on its no evil path in the end you get more balanced page rankings.
