Comments posting not working

    Comments are not being posted, do not show as pending in the control panel and does not trigger the specialty template alerting “comment will be posted pending moderator approval…”. Same site recently upgraded to newer EE version and per this thread - http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/96140/ - again raising the question “is it possible that something was corrupted in the process?” Could the problems be related?

    To rule out file corruption, can you re-upload EE’s core files, upgrading to the latest build if you haven’t already?

    re-loaded the core folder/files. No change. I did notice the one place I am able to find the comments is in the control panel under the “Most Recent Comments/TB” heading - from there I can click the entry title link, then the “view comments” link and see the listing of comments.

    It looks like you had two comment forms on there- one commented out, but I think it wasn’t completely commented out.  Viewing the page logged out- two forms showed.  I pulled out the embedded one- put the code I pulled out in the ‘notes’ for the page.  I posted fine as a superadmin- though it doesn’t go in moderated for superadmins.  Might do a quick test as a regular member- and looks like membership it required for commenting, so that one should be moot.

    In any case- give it a try, see if you’re still running into issues with it.

    Thanks, sorry for the trouble ...I had things in a mess, for sure.

    Never mind the past, the important thing is is it working fine now? 😊

    I agree with your philosophy, Ingmar! Still have an issue here, though - while comments are now posting, they aren’t being moderated (the usual notice of “comments will post after admin approval” is not displayed and the comments post immediately) for groups even though I have gone to two locations for the settings:

    CP Home ›  Admin ›  Members and Groups ›  Member Groups ›  Edit Member Group ›  Guests > Comment Posting Privileges

    set “Exclude member from comment moderation” to “no” AS WELL AS

    Admin->Weblog Administration->Weblog Management->Edit Preferences (Your Weblog)->Comment Posting Preferences

    set to “yes” moderate comments.

    Disregard the last post. I figured out my error to be that I was commenting in a blog I had set up for testing and that one had NOT been set to moderate comments. All is working fine, now. Thanks.

    cool.  I’m glad you got it going.  Closing this one out, but don’t hesitate to post again if anything else comes up!
