    Hi,

I am new to CI. This is the first time for me attempting to code PHP from scratch. I had found CI on a search to learn how to code my own php.

I think I install CI correctly. But how do I start using CI?

    Thanks in advance!

Well first,  think what you want to make. As the same goes for anything else, You can’t start a piece art, painting or anything else without an idea.

If you already have some rough php skills from tinkering around with other scripts then you will be over a major hurdle already, but if your totally new to php/programming and html I would start out with some simple web app that is cool and might be interesting, maby a file upload script or a image hosting script would probably be easy, Codeignitor already has alot of the functions and stuff, so its pretty streamlined from there.  But you must have some idea of a website you aspire to make or else you wouldn’t be here making this thread.

So you might want to check some of the screencasts, I don’t know where the links are too them. Just use the search forum for screencasts and you probably find some of them. and some of the members here are usually friendly and will help you if you get stuck with a piece of code that your lost with. good luck 😊

Well my idea is to start a family site for my family to share and enjoy. I want them to be able to upload their picture to the site, post comments, etc… with ease. So the idea is there. It will definately be a master piece (in my eyes)

I do have some rough (very rough) skills in tinkering around with the scripts. So, hopefully that will help me get started. :D

Hmmm, screencasts hurh. I might be able to make use of that, I will definately look into it. :D

BTW! How do I start CI program? I sat there last night trying to figure the program out. And I can’t seem to find it. :( Not unless I am missing something here.
