I have had a website built by solspace many years ago but I don’t have the time to maintain it.

Can I post it for sale in this forum?

I’m surprised no one has responded to this, but am pretty sure you will find the answer to be “no.”

This response isn’t official, and shouldn’t be taken as such, I’m mostly posting here to bump the thread in case it was missed.

Thanks. I’ll take it as a no unless I hear otherwise.

Might I recommend a place for selling developed EE websites?

Maybe people would like to offer their services for hire so maybe a marketplace section would be appropriate.

Well, there is the Job Board and Pro Network.

And nothing is stopping you from just putting up a “for sale” sign on your site.

I don’t know how all of that works, since you’d have to transfer the database and domain to the other person’s host, and I believe EE licenses are not transferable, so the buyer would have to purchase one of those to be legal as well.

    Hi havanajournal,

We don’t allow selling websites on these forums. However, I do want to make clear that the EE license is completely transferrable. If you sell your site you can transfer ownership of the license from yourself to the buyer. Transferring a license is easy, here’s how.

    1. Have the client register at expressionengine.com.

    2. .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) the license number you want transferred and the client’s expressionengine.com user name.

    3. We’ll transfer the license and notify you when the transfer is completed. After the transfer all further notifications will be sent to the client as if the client was the original purchaser. Please note we do not notify the client of the transfer, we leave that you.

Thanks. I will keep that in mind.

I hope you don’t mind if I suggest a marketplace. I would love to see EE sites for sale, services etc.

I won’t list the site I am selling but it is a great opportunity for the right person and I would think that an EE fan would want to know about opportunities like this.

Thanks for the clarification Leslie. Glad you showed up. It might not read like it, but I am pretty uncomfortable being even an unofficial spokesman.

We have a Job Board and Pro net and that covers 99% of “services” requests. Its really rare to have people asking to sell a site. In 4+ years I think this is perhaps, the 3rd or 4th request that I’m aware of. If there is a demand, we’d certainly consider helping out in some fashion but I’m not seeing one yet.
