Firefox has served me for a long time, and it is a fantastic browser. My only trouble with it is it’s memory usage. It’s got so bad I’ve been using Google Chrome for the past few days, but it’s just annoying. It has no built in rendering for RSS feeds, I can’t access anything like delicious or digg, it’s just annoying.

Can anybody recommend a decent, fast browser with some plugin support?

You might like this FireFox Bloated ED. Personally, I can’t give up firebug or the web developer toolbar 😉

Maybe they will make a 4400kb “web designer browser” without all that extra junk - like re-releasing FF 1.0 or something 😛

I’m bloody tempted to download the WebKit source and start my own browser… either that or add a load of crap to Chrome

I vote for Obama to bring “change” to the browser world.

(Like he will change anything… haha….)

FF3 on it’s own is a moderate memory consumer. John Resig pointed out when chrome appeared that it are the websites that consume the memory. And in FF’s case it also depends on the addons you use.

As I’ve just said, it’s the memory usage

I’ve only occasionally had problems with Firefox 3 and memory usage (usually it’s a runaway script eating my processor). Such a thing was typical in <FF2, but were fixed when all those “not memory leaks, srsly guys” were addressed in 3. Suggestion: buy more memory? If it’s that big of a problem for just Firefox, you should be having more serious problems running more intensive applications.

I like Safari on Windows. You may also want to try out Flock…it seems like it might be decent though I have never used it.

@ Sally - if you figure that one out, please share!  I have not found a reliable hack to watch Netflix in Linux…

@ Jamie - What are the stats of the machine you are looking to replace your browser on (CPU, mem, etc)?
