Is there a way to auto-select the ping servers by default?  I don’t want to have to go into the “pings” tab of the Publish form and then have to select the ping servers every time.

Can’t this just be done by default?  I can’t find an option for this.

    Any ideas?

To set it for your account, go into ‘My Account’ and look for ping servers under ‘Weblog Settings’- there’s a dropdown where you can specify which ones are checked by default.

    That do the trick?

    Hi Robin,

That did work. (Thanks!)  But, I now realize my problem is different than the one I posted above.  Here is the issue I now have…

I am using a Stand-Alone Entry Form for website members to post blog entries.  The posts are by default marked as “pending” for moderation purposes.  I have used the [hidden_pings=“yes”] parameter in the templates.  But, I’m curious if this parameter is even valid since the post requires moderation by an Admin.

Is there a way to ensure the Ping Servers are auto selected, and pinged, throughout this moderation process?

Currently, once a new entry is submitted the Admin must login to the control panel, review the entry, and select the ping servers, and then set the post to “open” in order to approve.

I would like to eliminate the step which requires to select the ping servers.  It would be great if this was just automatic.

Hm- so it doesn’t ping until the status is set to ‘open’?

Yeah.  We are moderating the posts.  So, that’s correct.

OK- I’m walking through the logic a bit- seems like you want hidden_pings=“no” - because you don’t want pings sent when it’s published.  And following the code- looks like as long as the ping servers are set to show by default, they should be checked when you go in to edit and should send normally.  Assuming entry date isn’t in the future.

Note- if you’ve got multiple admins- you’ll want to edit the default ping server settings in ‘Admin- Weblog admin- Ping servers’.  But anyone who has already tweaked them will need to change things in their own settings.

But given the above setup, looks like it should work like you need.  Are you running into any issues when you check test it out?
