Hello, a recent blog website of ours has recently launched.

Im wondering what pinging servers I can use? What are the ones that you recommend?

Will EE work with ping-o-matic and pingoat.com?

What exactly do I have to put in the EE field for the website to ping ping-o-matic?

I read somewhere that http://rpc.pingomatic.com/ was having problems, so I dont think this may be the right url

    I found this: http://elliottback.com/wp/a-list-of-rpc-and-rpc2-to-ping/

Im wondering if one should use all these sites to ping. If so, will there be any major implications? i.e. severe server load, slowdowns of any sort, etc? Or is this common to have a long list of ping servers to ping on every weblog post?

If your site is meant to be “blogrolled,” I would suggest including Blogrolling.com on your ping server list (rpc.blogrolling.com/pinger)—although you probably want to hold off on that until they fix whatever problem they’ve been having lately.

Weblogs.com (rpc.weblogs.com/RPC2) allegedly re-sends pings it receives to a variety of other sites, though I don’t know how to verify this. My site does pretty well on search engines, but I don’t know whether pinging has anything to do with that.

And of course, ExpressionEngine.com’s “recently updated” list (ping.expressionengine.com) sends me the occasional visit, so I ping it too.
