Hello, for some hours I have been trying to solve this. I looked at the above referred page, searched the site but nothing that solves the problems I have. I assume I mixed it up in the process of removing the “pmhclients” from the URL inside “CP Home ›  Admin ›  System Preferences ›  General Configuration”

what I have is:
URL to the root directory of your site : http://www.carelse.com
URL to your Control Panel index page: http://www.carelse.com/12345/index.php
URL to your “themes” folder: http://www.carelse.com/themes/

Anybody has an idea where to start?
Also, how can I update to 1.6.4? I have all this installed at enginehosting, should they do this or should I press a magic “install” button?

When EE sees a url with URL=http://www.something.com in it, it triggers the ‘To proceed to the URL you have requested, click the link below:’ message.  This is generated in the main index.php file.  It’s done in part to keep your control panel url out of referrer logs.  All links out of the control panel use that format.  So- if your control panel url differs from your site url?  It will trigger the link message when doing things like viewing templates.

Now- you’ve got your cp url matching the site url based on the above.  So- give me a hint- what are you clicking that generates this message? 

As to upgrading, you’ll need to handle that yourself.  But it is simple as long as you follow the instructions and are comfortable using ftp and creating a database backup (you can use phpmyadmin).  First thing to decide- do you need a build update or a version update.  What version and build are you running now- should see both in the footer of the control panel.

in “CP Home ›  Templates ›  Edit Template” I edit the template, click"update” and then “view rendered template”

Seems doable to me.

Yep, upgrading is generally a breeze.  Just take your time and follow the directions exactly.  And if you do have questions, just ask and we’ll help walk you through it.

As to the ‘click to proceed’- is that squared away for you now?  As discussed in the other thread- you might want to make sure you have a cookie domain set.  Could run into issues w/the presence/absence of www otherwise.

The updating I will do tomorrow, first like to to solve the first issue 😊
When I edit the “*site > index ” template and want to view it I land on the following URL “http://www.carelse.com/index.php?URL=http://www.carelse.com/index.php/site/index/”

Somewhere I have a duplicate “index” sitting…

Have no clue where to look next.
in “CP Home ›  Admin ›  System Preferences ›  Cookie Settings” I have:
Cookie Domain: .carelse.com
Cookie Path:
Cookie Prefix:

so only at Cookie Domain I have filled in something.

Version is 1.6.3 and build is 20080319

The problem with the URL has not been solved on my side till far. Anybody has an idea?
As I only have one html page uploaded I was thinking if there is a way to start all over again, with the default settings?

I managed to solve a part of the puzzle by changing settings in
CP Home ›  Admin ›  System Preferences ›  General Configuration

Now I use

<a href="http://carelse.pmhclients.com/12345/index.php">http://carelse.pmhclients.com/12345/index.php</a>

instead of

<a href="http://www.carelse.com/12345/index.php">http://www.carelse.com/12345/index.php</a>

But this also reflects in the URL which now includes “pmhclients”

It works for now although I fear when I try to link (with static html links) from the home page to the next levels it goes wrong. We’ll see. If someone is familiar with this beginner problem do not hesitate and throw in some thoughts…

Ok, the cookie domain should be filled in and that’s it; but it needs to match the domain you’re visiting at.  Which is the correct domain you want to use? carelse.com?

Also, did you get that update to 1.6.4 done?

the cookie domain is set to .carelse.com
the ULR of the site set in system preferences is all “carelse.com” so that should be ok.

1.6.4 I have not done.
I wanted to solve these things first.

How essential is it to update to 1.6.4?
Would that solve the URL problems?

No, I suspect the url click thru issue is a setting somewhere- or something odd on your end.  What’s the url look like when you’re on the ‘Template’ tab in the backend?  (You might want to disguise your system folder name when you post it.)  What’s the url look like once you click to view the template on the frontend- I mean the page with the ‘click this link’ on it.

And just so our settings are similar- in ‘Admin- System Prefs- Output and debug’- set ‘Generate HTTP Page Headers?’ to ‘yes’ and ‘Redirection Method’ to yes.  I wouldn’t bother changing the others.  And the above made no difference on mine.  But it won’t hurt to sync up.

If that doesn’t do it, I may have you edit the index.php file a bit so we can spot why it’s choosing to redirect.

If you mean “view rendered template”? When I take *site/index” and click “view rendered template” I see the link “http://www.carelse.com/index.php/site/index/”

Then is halts for 5+ seconds and loads the hp
So that seems to be solved now :-D
the other pages load well when I go “template->edit templates->view rendered template”

settings:
“Generate HTTP Page Headers” : yes
“Redirection Method” : Location (faster)

I am a little bit surprised to be honest…it seems to work :-D

Ah- I meant the page with the ‘click through’ link as well- but looks like it’s now refreshing ok?  From what I can see, it should be.  You definitely want a cookie domain set- looks like your backend is using carelse.com- sans www- and linking out to http://www.carelse.  This shouldn’t matter- as long as you’ve got your cookie domain set.  Which you do.

So just to be clear- all your ‘view templates’ see to work without stopping to show the ‘Click to view’.  Except when you go to site/index, and there it bogs down for 5 seconds but does go ahead and redirect?

It works fine except that I wonder about the last part of the URL http://www.carelse.com/index.php/site/index/
Should there be the “index/” at the end?
If that is ok than I am good.
All other templates work fine too.

Ah- yes, it’s good.  It’s not required- if you don’t include the template name, it defaults to ‘index’.  And I typically don’t include it on the frontend.  But the links out use it, and probably makes sense for them to do so (though it’s a judgment call).

But in general?  Yay!  Sounds like you’re good on this one.  If you run into any other issues, you know where to find us 😉.
