Man, I love it when things like this happen. I stumble into the funniest things sometimes, seriously. Some of you know that I’ve been working on a Windows machine and have been looking to finally make the switch to a Mac. I was on Craigslist earlier this week and ended up finding one of the most complicated scams I’ve ever seen. I almost fell for it, but thankfully I’m always a sceptic. Once I found the smoking gun, I decided to paste it on the internet. Hopefully this will save some people from falling for it.

I posted the whole thing on my site (with pictures of the email correspondence). Here’s the link: Ridiculously Elaborate Scam. Check it out if you have a second.

Ran across the same scam a few months ago with a Canon 5D. They are getting good at this stuff….

Yeah Marcus, they are getting sneaky. I didn’t know that you were a photographer too. I’ve got a friend right now that’s incredibly amped to get that shooter. He was raving about it in my forum for days. I’m getting ready to build him a new site to go along with his shiny new camera.

Apparently the post got stumbled.  My referrals just exploded and it’s all from stumble upon.  That’s a first for the site! Whoever stumbled it, Thank You!

As a rule, I would never make a purchase from someone that didn’t have a reliable and reputable online payment option.

    Or failing that, PayPal. <rimshot>

I’m thinking that it’s the same for just about everyone here. Most of us are pretty saavy when it comes to these things. But of course, I have to admit that I was pretty much tricked until I got to the payment method being Western Union. That did it for me.
