I’ve set up a site for the first time that allows people to become members and post to the blog.  I’m using the code from the docs for registration, profile, login, forgotten password, etc., but all of these sections have the old 1.5.3 EE look and feel.  I’m wondering how I can change these to the new 1.6.x look or even better, can I change them completely so they are part of my site’s look/feel.  I’m not sure if EE allows this kind of modification.

Greetings, django6 - the member profile templates are totally separate from the CP look and feel.  You can update that look and feel by modifying the templates in Admin -> Members & Groups -> Member Profile Templates.

I just did this on a site that I am working on and it worked great. To make things easier I would pull the CSS out of the EE structure and put it in a file and use a standard CSS editor to make changes so that you can remove all of the purple…

You can download a minimalist member profile theme from this Wiki article.

This came from a blogpost by Derek Jones.

The beauty of this is that it is very easy to edit the CSS and change the colours to match your site.
