    Congratulations to the winners.

I’ve sure that random names were drawn from a hat or all the posts printed out and a dart thrown at a wall or a mystic consulted or something.

Just wondering how the results were drawn? Did you (EllisLab) place all the names into a weblog set to random or do you have some module that you’ve created for that very reason? 😉

    Best wishes,

    Mark

I had The Dereks pick numbers out of a virtual hat to determine the winners.

Dang if only there’ld a been a few more Dereks to pull out some more winners, I was feeling pretty lucky there, until my hopes were dashed, that is. :(

Serious, thanks to Packt for the giveaways.

    DavidB where are U?

I hope it had the ExpressionEngine logo on it? 😉

    Hi folks,

I just want to thank Ellis Labs for awarding me a copy of Leonard’s Murphy’s Building Websites with ExpressionEngine 1.6. I am VERY grateful. It arrived yesterday and I have finished my first read of it today. It really is a GREAT book for someone like me who is new to EE.

I just want Leslie to know that if I do not end up using EE for my web site solution I will return the book to you so that you can pass it along to someone who will put it to good use.

Figuring out what and how to get our new real estate web site project for me and my wife underway has become very frustrating and I am about ready to throw in the towel.

There is SO much that I like about EE and the book has made me like it even more.

Much of what I like about EE is the huge amount of good will that is evident in this forum, the individuals and the spirit of the community found here. Ellislabs has the right idea in that they have chosen to create an atmosphere of good will and there is a HUGE amount of VALUE in GOOD WLL. So much value that for those concerned about price increases with regard to the EE 2.0 version…I suggest the value of the good will found here far exceeds any potential price increase with the EE 2.0 release.

Having said that its just not clear to me how to get EE to work for our real estate site, the MLS data import, and members/real estate customers needs.

Regardless, the book is EXCELLENT ( although I have found a few typos 😊) and the folks here are first rate.

    So thank you all. 😊

Wait, you mean I didn’t win? I knew I shouldn’t have made fun of Leslie’s hair!

    What’s MLS data?

And I’d suggest posting a few of your problems over to the tech help forums before giving up.

You also don’t have to run the whole site with EE, though I think anything you’d want to do outside of EE you could do better or easier (not always the same thing) within EE.

And while not an option for me, you might want to consider hiring one of the EE pros. Spend your time selling houses, let someone else figure out the tech issues. Once things are set up, you should be able to manage the site. Just a suggestion.
