I’ve just uploaded everything for IgnitedScreencasts, a brand new series of screencasts covering loads of CodeIgniter related topics.

The first episode is on File Uploading, and I’ve got a few others in the pipeline.

    Please visit us at: http://www.jamierumbelow.net/screencasts/

The entire front-end site was built in about 10 hours, so it’s a little rough around the edges.

    Enjoy!

bout half way through it.  I love it so far, but the compression really boogers up the text and a lot of it is completely unreadable :(

Looks great but the .mp4 is bit blurry.
For H.264 + aac audio this would look good at about 600-800 KB/s bitrate. You have it at 370KB/s

    Thanks for the feedback!

I’m using a crappy open source screen recorder - and thats why its not too good.

I might try to do it on a windows PC…

    New screencast!

    AJAX and CodeIgniter!

Great just the video I’m looking for.! I’ve been messing around all night and afternoon with ajax trying to learn it.  😛

Edit: the quality is pretty blurry. I Cannot read what is on the video, its artifacted. The video quite useless becuase of it.

If your trying to use low Bitrates to save bandwidth, I could host a mirror of some of them for you for the benefit of the programming community. I have a dedicated server with a 100mbps port. I frequently use 500-800 Gigabytes a month and I have no issue with it.

    Hey,

No, I have no bandwidth problems.

I’m using the best screen recorder for linux I could find, but it’s still crappy…

I reencoded at about 600kbps but it only hit 400 max.

Okay, have you try taking the screencast using a different color background in your editor?
A black background I think would require more Bitrate. Try using White, it may turn out better.

Great! Just did a few test and that made it look a hell of a lot better.

Would you like me to rerecord the others, or is it ok if I just leave it for the next one…?

Yep, I see I know a little about video codecs, I think it would great if you could redo that one about the ajax with the error message, or success message, shown in a div in the page. I’m actually trying to incorporate that in my application and I’m not sure how to do it. 😊

    Hey…

    I HATE .ogg

It’s a crappy and lossy format, so I’m getting loads of audio errors.

I’m getting a mac in a few days so I will record all of the screencasts on that…

In the mean time, what parts are you having troubles with?

I agree .ogg is one the worst audio formats, its a specially difficult to re-encode it.
Well,I’m am developing a Directory script type of application.
I want to show the error or success messages in red/green div on the user submission page.
Like how you how have in the video, the part I’m having trouble with is its all artifacted so I can’t actually read any of the code. 😊
