    Hi,

We are evaluating Expression Engine for using it as our content management system. However all our existing data (with loads of stored procedures) is on MS Sql server. What is the best way to use Expression Engine with MS Sql Server?

    Thanks in Advance

This is not supported in current versions. This might change in the future, but currently only MySQL is supported.

Would it be possible to somehow replicate the user / org data (ie a few table worth of data) into MS SQL Server db from expression engine MySQL db via some code customization? Would we be able to outsource this requirement to some developer who already understands the code and the db?

I don’t think that’s a good idea, actually. EE 1.6 does have a database abstraction layer, so that might be rewritten to support MS SQL, but I am not aware of any projects.

Personally, I’d wait for EE 2.0, due in the next couple of weeks or so, and see if it supports databases other than MySQL: CodeIgniter, the PHP framework it will be based upon, already does.

Careful! Some people might take that as a release date!  😉

Yep that was very very naughty! 😉

    Or perhaps not?

Don’t read too much into it, please 😊 “This Summer” is still the official position, and I have no further knowledge on that issue.
