is there any way to bypass the confirmation message that appears after logging in?

after a user logs in, i just want them to be sent straight to the page indicated by the “return” parameter of the {exp:member:login_form} tag.

i can see how to modify the content of the message, but not how to bypass it altogether.

any help appreciated… thanks in advance

    Hi, fogcity.

    Please see this thread.

    Does that help?

    Thanks for the reply, Sue.

The thread you pointed me to suggests either replacing the meta refresh tag in the User Message Template, or hacking the system. The latter isn’t an option—I really want to keep the system untouched.

So as for the User Message Template, the problem there is that any change will affect ALL user messages, right?

I only want to target the “You Are Logged In” one.

I guess I could target that with an If in the template? Kind of ugly, especially if I’m reading the message text (rather than an ID that won’t change)...

I haven’t tried to use an if in the template, but keep in mind this may or may not work. We’re at the point where the thread should migrate to howto, though.

    Tried it; no dice.

“if"s are not processed in User Message Templates.

    php is ignored too.

So, question remains: how to bypass the “you are now logged in” confirmation message?

I would settle for a meta-refresh (with duration 0 seconds) as you originally pointed me to, but this doesn’t appear possible.

No, the user template only processes a rather limited subset of EE tags; also, it does not allow for PHP. So, this thread still looks like your best stab at the issue.

    Moving to Howto.
