Leslie, the hotel is every bit as good as it looks. I checked in a couple of hours ago - the rooms and bistro are great and people are very friendly.

Wow, almost forgot when this was actually taking place (pretty lousy for a sponsor…). Guess I know where I’ll be tomorrow night at 6:30! I look forward to meeting some people. Tony…what do you look like? How will anyone know who’s who? I’ll be in my trademark black t-shirt, and I pretty much look like the pic to the left. Yeah.

There’s a little pic of me over at my Twitter page: http://twitter.com/tonygeer. Maybe we might get nametags?

    Free Beer?

That cab ride back to Grand Rapids is gonna be costly.  Hopefully I’ll be there, but I’ll have to check my work schedule and see if I can get it off…

Cool, didn’t know you were on twitter. Looking forward to meeting you, and trying some of that “Golden Cap - Saison Ale” at the Holland Brewery (if it has a flying monkey on the bottle, you know you’re in for a party).

I’ll bring a camera and do my best to actually use the thing without being a tool.

I brought mine too, so I’ll grab a couple. At some point I want to check out the Irish pub across the road to see what their Guiness tastes like. Even though the Guiness concentrate is the same, different places mix it differently.

Pictures..and I think I’ll experiment with my laptop, webcam, the brewery’s wifi, and Yahoo Live.

Definitely hope to see a good number of you tonight. Especially since we had a good number of Rubyists at our Rails class last month, so you have make the EE community look good! 😉  We’ll make sure photos get on Flickr with the Sessions tag

Mike just kicked off the class and he’s doing great. It will definitely be a great week.

That hotel’s conference area rocks! The whole thing looks like a lot of fun!

I like the group chunking exercise - what a neat approach to actually have the code printed on paper while isolating the reusable elements for embedded templates. (I wonder where I learned that…) Talk about “hands-on”. Great work!

Thanks for sharing the photos!  😊

Photos from tonight’s beach cookout added.  What a beautiful night - with a sailboat regatta providing some nice color along with the sunset.

Day three photos added.  Today’s group exercise was working from a provided sitemap to try and determine what back-end EE components (ExpressionEngine Architecture) would be needed.  6 groups worked on 3 sites - so once done they could go look at how their counterpart group handed the same site.

They all did a great job of identifying the easier parts of the site and also where more input would be needed (or assumptions made) before deciding what EEA components would be needed.

    More pics from today.

Tonight is open-ended—I’m grabbing supper and a bit of a break before heading back for some 1:1 tutorial time.  Others will probably head out to enjoy the warm sunny evening.
