i remember a forum user coded a very very nice image gallery, ajax-based and as far as i remember with possibility to leave comments, similar to zenphoto.
unfortunately, i searched hardly for it in the postings but without any luck - does anyone else remember the thread?

yeah, think the same - between peppermint and earl grey i happily found that http://www.zenphoto.org/ and will give it a try.
