I am looking at building a community site and considering buying another license of EE to handle this.  The standard stuff I know EE will excel in (blog, cms, and so on).  Where I am not sure and I would like to get some opinions on is when it comes to file management.

I plan on having user generated content, in the form of “articles” and files.  The articles will likely end up being simply text, and the files will be uploaded and linked to.  I want to have some form of moderation / approval process for these files and articles.  It also has to be able to hold up to a significant amount of traffic (down the road if the community grows).

I’m thinking about doing something similar.

You can allow poeple to submit a weblog using a stand alone entry form, and you can change it’s status to “pending” or something so a moderator has to approve it.

The file upload is harder…  You could try to use leevi grahams SAEF file uploader.  Other people have used solspaces freeform to upload a file and send an email to a moblog which then publishes the article.

But user file uploads suck in the current version off EE

I was afraid that would be the case.
