Created Global Vars for phone #‘s, addresses, etc - Little things that don’t need to have a page associated with them that will be in multiple areas yadda yadda, you know.

Is there a way to get user groups access to edit those instead of having them as static copy in many different areas for them to update?

    Thx

Additionally, If the member group has privileges to administer templates, they will be able to edit the standard Global Template Variables.

But unless they’re knowledgeable,  I prefer to keep everyone out of the templates. Only bad can happen when you let a rookie loose in the template tab 😊

If I’m understanding Derek in this post - you can’t use Fresh Variables inside entries. (I could be mistaken.)

I often use the Global Variables on client sites for stuff like phone, company name, email, etc - so they can put them right in the entries they are adding/editing.

What I do is ONLY give the client access to a placeholder template group that is not being used. That way they can’t mess anything up. Also, before I give the client access, I go in and create a tab for them that jumps right to the Global Variables screen.

    So far no problems.

That’s a good idea, Mark, and you’re correct.  Fresh Variables can also hold tags themselves or PHP, which depending on your site, might present some security issues.  User-defined Template Globals will never have tags or PHP parsed.

Does Fresh Variables still not work with IE7?  Or has it been updated?

No it still requires a DOM-compliant web browser, Grant.
