EllisLab is growing again. We’re looking for an ExpressionEngine expert with people skills to join our tech support team. This is a part-time position with a nice, flexible, work-from-home schedule. You’ll interact with one of the best communities on the internet and help people succeed on a daily basis. Its fun, challenging, and never the same two days in a row! You do not need to live in the United States to apply but you must be able to work US business hours.

Details and application instructions are available on the Jobs page.

    Crap, I’m out.

All these jobs coming up and the word “flexible” is always tempting…

I can’t work the hours, or handle that first part the “Technical” aspect, I’m ok if I can fake the PHP stuff.
    I’ld be like “Hey Derek, what’s this guys malfunction here… ” 😊
Best of luck to anyone considering the position, I’m sure you wouldn’t regret it!

Lets see, I have some twenty years experience as a real KickAss Test and Quality Engineer.

I know a lot about EE, can hack at php pretty good, actually understand CSS, HTML and XHTML, customer service experience, actively retired so pretty much available daily for email or telephone interface, understand and fight server issues on a daily basis, and consider EE an excellent evolving package.

Then I see a pay scale that appears it is below Jack In The Box, Wal-Mart, etc to jump thru hoops and be an expert in all of the above and more?

Frankly, I could use some extra income and feel I could satisfy the needs of the position.

However, unless I have misread the job description, the remuneration for ability and responsibility is somehow out of whack.

If you can make that kind of money at Wal-Mart or a burger joint in the same number of hours, you should.

If you want to apply for the job and discuss salary and details, you should apply and take up your concerns about the job with us that way.

If you want to pick at us about our opportunities on our forums, sorry, you are out of luck.

    A. It’s a work-from-home position.
    B. It’s flexible hours.

That gives you a pretty big discount on salary.

    C. It’s part-time.
    D. The pay seems reasonable to me, but then I live in the Midwest where the Zimbabwean dollar goes much further.

This all said, assuming the 15 hours a week at the max hours, divided into the max pay, this come up to around $21 an hour for answering questions. If I didn’t already have a job during these hours, I’d go for it, since I like the idea of working in my underwear (I’m typing in them right now).

I do disagree with Leslie though. This isn’t enough money to work at Wal-Mart (even though I could probably wear just my underwear while working there as well), and I honestly doubt Wal-Mart pays anyone lower than a store manager above $20.

Maybe my math is off. Where EllisLab is going wrong in these postings is posting the pay scale at all. No one else ever does this, and it ends up being a waste of everyone’s time. I really doubt they expect to get someone with 20+ years experience wanting a part time job. You should actually be thanking them for posting a range that’s below you, so you didn’t even have to bother reading or being interested in the job.

See, told you my people skills suck.

Well, I just applied. Wish me luck!

You did note that it pays less than Wal-Mart, right?

Yes, and I am making a dig. Good luck. [Update: Dig wasn’t to Daniel, so sorry if he took it that way.]

And since one of the “requirements” is that you have a secret identity…well, you have the perfect super hero name. You have any EE sites?

Yes, I have 3 sites runnig ExpressionEngine and 3 more being developed in CI.

As to your dig, it is unappreciated. The details of waht compensation I am willing to take are nunya.

As in nunya business. Now that’s a dig, 😉

I would consider it an honor to be a part of such a well recieved and actively progressive company.

    Thanks for the well wishes.

Ok, ok, let’s let the Wal-mart stuff drop. All sides have made their respective points and I’d like to keep this positive, thanks.

Daniel, I don’t think he was making a dig at you.

This thread is turning out to be a mini-job interview all on its own as this is the type of customer service stuff that has to be handled every day 😊

<- hoping it isn’t the only interview :cheese:

Christopher, I let your post and the post from lbneal run together and only realized post “Submit Post” my error.
All apologies, seeing as how it’s been dropped, what’s that? A bird, a plane…? 😉
