Odd things are afoot today on the web. I have lost contact with all of my domains that run under my own domain server. I was assuming that my host was patching the DNS servers and I have raised a ticket with them but they are not responding which is very, very unusual for them. I have checked about 8 of my sites through 3 different UK ISP’s but they are not showing. Any body else having DNS problems today or is it just me having the bad time?

i was trying to move one domain to Engine Hosting but can’t!

If anyone has 30 seconds could they check http://www.simoncox.com (no its not a cheap trick to get visits!) and let me know if you can see it - least ways we would be able to determine if its a localised DNS problem or an international one.

    Many thanks!

Doesn’t load for me. I live in Iowa in the US.

Safari can’t open the page “http://www.simoncox.com/” because it can’t find the server “www.simoncox.com”.

Thanks Chris - that’s what I am getting as well.

No luck, nslookup does not turn up an A record. That said, it’s almost certainly a temporary DNS issue.

Yep - some of them have just come back.

simoncox.com is back. I find it ironic that I’ve been fighting spam issues all day, written about this in two forum posts, then your first article is about spam.

    Welcome back.

I was just excited I beat Ingmar and Lisa in a response by a full 14 minutes!

I had a flood of (okay a few) mails from clients who had emailed me that thier email wasn’t working which of course i did not get until my email was working. Some had even been clever enough to use other accounts not affected - but they were not to know everything was down!

I happened to check one of my sites last night around 11pm EST and it was experiencing the same issues you indicated.  I checked GearLive.com as well knowing they were on Engine Hosting and they had the same thing from what I could tell.  I’d really like to get an official email as to what happened.

Interestingly the site I have on EH was fine.

Occasionally over the last week or so my ability to access my own website has been problematic, though on some of those occasions I’ve also been unable to reach most of the sites I routinely visit.

    Cache poisoning?

Gearlive.com is not hosted with us, and we have had no DNS server related issues at all.

    Thanks 😊

Edit: As a side note, always make sure you open a support request with us directly if you think you are having any issues with a site you host with us.

I wonder what the issue was then.  I was able to hit several other sites for some reason but not mine.  Either way, it was brief and didn’t have a major impact.  Thanks for the correction on GearLive.  I thought they were hosted with EH.  My mistake.
