We’ve had a lot of confusion with member activation requests.

Many members consistently persist in using their original activation email as a link to the site, resulting in a lot of ‘Invalid Activation Request’ messages.

I’d like to edit this message to remind people that if they have already registered, then they should login.

Please could you let me know how to edit this autogenerated message? I’d assumed it was in the metsys/language/english section?

I’m running 1.6.0 of EE (an upgrade is in the works!)

    <any thanks

shiftltd, welcome to the ExpressionEngine forums.

You can find the text at:

    "mbr_problem_activating" =>
    "Invalid activation request.",

in the file called lang.member.php in the system/language/english folder.

    Does that help?

    Hi,

Thanks for the prompt response! This was one of the files I’d previously searched with no luck, I’m afraid.

Do you have any other thoughts as to where it could be? This is an older version of EE - I don’t know if there are any variations in how this variable is stored?

    Thanks again!

shiftltd, I’d strongly suggest you upgrade to the most recent version of EE. As far as finding the text for an earlier version of EE, that text should be similar enough.

    Hi,

An upgrade is being floated but there’s a couple of political reasons why this won’t happen overnight. I’ve been through that file, and there are no corresponding similar messages.

Could this exist in a different file? I’ve even search globaly for that text string with no luck.

    Thanks again!

The file Sue pointed you to definitely should contain that text, and you can edit it there. And, yes, you really should upgrade to the latest version. It is recommended for all customers.
