Not necessarily, there are roughly 60,000 registered here and I’m sure there are many like me that represent several installs

I guess you might be right then. I don’t have a very good grasp on how many people inhabit this world sometimes!
Just out of interest, I notice that Wordpress uses a Meta Tag -
<meta name="generator" content="WordPress 2.5.1" />I wonder what benefit this has for Wordpress and if ExpressionEngine could do the same?

I’ve seen several times the total number of registered users being quoted as an indicator of the user base, however, as it was pointed in this thread these figures seems to represent the total statistics of the EE + CI communities together (except for the real time data, that is, Total Logged-in Users, Total Anonymous Users, Total Guests).
