Hello,

I’ve moved my expression engine site to a new server recently.

I’ve moved before and not encountered any problems.

However, lately, I’ve noted that logging into the admin panel takes longer than normal.

The front end loads pretty fine.

Today, when trying to login to the control panel it’s been the worst I’ve seen: 

Script executed in 48.2987 seconds   18 SQL queries used
Build:  20070122

Upon waiting for the page to load I navigated to expressionengine.com and the site was inaccessible to me.

As the control panel calls to the expression engine website for the RSS articles - Would it be that due to EE being inaccessible to me that it caused this significant login delay?

Aside from this I am at abit of a loss as to why these delays are occuring.  All other PHP applications on the server run perfectly fine (including a pretty large IPB forum).

I’d appreciate if someone could help with this.

Try turning off New Version Auto Check in CP > Admin > System Preferences > General Configuration and remove the news feed from your CP startpage.

This appears to have solved the problem.  Down from the normal 5+ seconds to login, to less than a second!

Odd this has started happening.

Glad to hear it. This is probably only a transient error, but can slow you down as you’ve seen.
