I thinking about starting a forum site. I love EE, but how is the forum module. I hear that vbulletin is the bomb! How is it compared to ee forum.

Something like http://www.daniweb.com/. Any advice is appreciated.

    Thanks!!

It largely depends on your needs. You see the forum in action right here. Will that do for you needs? Do you need a fully integrated solution? Then go with the forum module. If not, you’ll want a third party forum of some kind.

I haven’t used the EE forums all that much, but if you want a a fully integrated site (one membership is huge IMO), and this is brand new, so you obviously will start small, EE forums are good for you.  If you want a robust forum that you think is going to blow up fast, I’d have to recommend vB.  I love EE, but you’re looking at a new-ish add-on compared to a stand-alone veteran product.  Time could change things, but today that’s where I’m at.
