    Welcome aboard.

Definitely check out the docs, wiki and this forum. The other place to look is Boyink’s building an EE site tutorial. I’ve heard good things about EE screencasts as well, though I haven’t watched any, yet.

    PBMK,

How you learn really depends on what previous knowledge of web development you have? If you are versed well enough in HTML/CSS, than you can probably handle ExpressionEngine quite easily. If you have any form of knowledge with any programming, than you’ll likely even learn things quicker as you’ll probably be used to things like conditionals.

As Sean has already suggested, the Boyink tutorials are good enough. By the time you get halfway through them, you will be able to efficiently go through the documentation section quite steadily - which will likely be the primary resource for your EE research outside of the forums probably.. It is in my case anyway.
