Icons in Control Panel not appearing

After installing EE with PHP running as a cgi-bin process everything is working fine except there are icons missing in the Control Panel.  It appears that these icons are .png files that are located in the themes/cp_globla_images folder.  I am pretty sure permissions are all right.  Not sure if a path is incorrect somewhere to access these image files.

    Any ideas?

Wonder if they got corrupted in transit.  If you open the image directly, does it show up ok?

If I try to open the images directly I get an ‘Application Error’ from my hosting server.  This makes me think that it is something to do with the cgi-bin.

The thing I don’t understand is that most of the control panel theme looks fine.  So how is it that it is restricting just the cp_global_images?  I’ve tried giving that folder and all its contents full permissions, but it doesn’t help.

And sounds like it’s just happening with the png as well- correct?  Are the gifs and such showing up?  What browser are you viewing with?  If IE, try something else just to see.

And what build/version are you running?  This is actually vaguely familiar.  That said- might want to just delete and then upload fresh copies of those images.  See if that helps at all.  May just be corrupted.

I’ve tried both Firefox and Safari.  Problem exists with both.  Have tried deleting and re-uploading several times. No luck!  It is all image files (.jpg, .gif, .png, etc.)

OK- if you just ftp up an image completely unrelated to EE and try to view it- same problem?

Correct.  It appears as if all images if they reside anywhere inside the cgi-bin do not work.

You might want to talk to your host, but I would not generally expect images inside cgi-bin; this directory is for .cgi programs.

Thanks for the help.  That was the key.  The images and themes folders don’t belong in the cgi-bin.  That solved it.  That was stupid of me.

No worries 😊 The important thing is you solved it… Closing this thread, if anything else comes up kindly start a new one, thanks.
