today i read a blog post about a site running Drupal. because of a promotion to win a Wii FIT the site has received 20k+ comments in 24 hrs, and about 33k in just 3 days. the site had no problem what so ever, even though it was running on a single server without much tuning and performance cashing.

I’m wondering if EE could have done the same thing? has anybody tried this?

Maybe this should be moved to “presales,” assuming you actually were wanting to know and not just bring more attention to the give-away.

This said, seems like you’re happy with Drupal’s performance. Why are you wondering about EE?

i don’t own the site that got 32k comments, nor did i write the post, but i do dream of such event. In the blogosphere everybody is talking about how the site got 32k comments in just 3 days running on an ordinary 1U server and it didn’t get single glitch. I’m moving to EE (stop harassing me because i was using drupal for 2 years, plz, i don’t mean to promote drupal) i’m just wondering if EE could also handle such a load? That’s all

I’m still dubious if this is even a real post, since a google search doesn’t show me a “blogosphere” where “everybody is talking about how the site got 32k comments in just 3 days running on an ordinary 1U server.” Also, I didn’t harass anyone for using anything, if anything I said stick with what you know.

But then I don’t really care enough too ask for a listing of the sites discussing this miracle.

    Chris,

I don’t know the motives of the OP, but based on the blog and from what I’ve read in the About Me section, they wouldn’t care to bother to spam to get one or two more backlinks. According to Quantcast, that site is in the Top 10,000.. Based on the About section of the site, they make enough income for both her and her husband to be stay at home parents just off advertising alone. Oh, and the quality of writing on that site is quite good, as opposed to the OP.. 😊

Nonetheless, an interesting read. Thanks for link OP.. Good stuff on there.

Well, EE must have something going for it if the “guy that manages the site” is thinking of switching to ExpressionEngine.

I wanted to compare server loads from Wordpress and Drupal. Drupal wins hands down. I’ve been tempted to move to Drupal, but I have special needs that I can hack easily in WordPress and I’m still learning Drupal so it’s kind of hard for me. I’m also looking at Expression Engine. The new version looks dead sexy.

That blog you linked to is actually the husband’s website. The large-scale site that was linked in the OP is from his wife, which I believe, generates over 17x times the monthly traffic as blurbomat.com. I don’t know if they are considering switching, and frankly, do I really care. I enjoy the content and am glad that the blog got posted on here actually.. 😊

I do have to agree though, new version does like quite sexy indeed.
