    I’m having same issue regarding login returning to login page under Multiple Site Manager. Curiously, I’ve seen a few threads this month on the same. And behavior seems to be “special” under MSM.

    I have no problem getting to Control Panel in Safari or Firefox on a Mac, by the way. But only Safari will work on Windows. IE, Firefox just reload login page every time.

    I was able to finally get login to Control Panel working on Windows machines by changing security preferences to SessionID only. BUT, only default site control panel will load. If I try to select an alternate site, I am simply returned to the default site control panel.

    I’ve tried all combinations of SessionID, Cookies and mixtures on preference page for both the default site and alternate site. No luck.

    I’m running 1.6.3

    Hey, I’ve split this from the other post so that we can pursue this separately as they may not be the same problem.

    Can you head to Admin -> System Preferences -> Cookie Preferences and let us know what you have entered there?

    I’ve been able to get into the second site’s control panel by doing the following:

    1) copied admin.php from system/utilities/ into the second site’s root directory

    2) edited the second site’s path.php to include: $cp_url = ‘http://www.mainsite.com/secondsite/admin.php’;

    3) logged in with that url http://www.mainsite.com/secondsite/admin.php

    and everything works fine, as normal, on both Mac and Windows… any browser. This will also work no matter what Security Preferences are set… Cookies, SessionID, et cetera. Except… now can’t log into main site control panel unless on a Mac - any browser; or in Safari on Windows.

    I presently have nothing entered for Cookie Preferences, though, I tried just about everything imaginable prior to this solution above with no difference.

    Hm- are you using an IP to access cp?  And if you can get into the main site- try adding a cookie domain.  Would be .mysite.com.  Though… if you’re using sessions only, I’m not dead sure that’s the issue.
