I’ve picked up a few books recently and am working my way through them. One area that I would like to improve on is my understanding of color theory and typography. Yes I know I can search the net and learn a bit here and a bit there, but I want something somewhat comprehensive. Plus I learn better by reading offline.

an introductory approach for the layman (re: uninformed) on either topic would be great. I’m going to be ordering on Amazon pretty soon - already have a couple of unrelated books queued up.

On Typography I’d recommend:

Stop Stealing Sheep & Find Out How Type Works - a really well-written, approachable book by Erik Spikermann.
Thinking with Type - A Practical Guide

If you have to decide between these two, get the first one. It’s a great read. 😊

Thinking with Type is good entry point IMO (haven’t read Spiekermann book).

Bringhurst’s book has a philospophical angle to it which makes it very rich but tougher to digest.

I just ordered Thinking with Type and unrelated to typography Transcending CSS.
