I was looking at JungleDisk, have you had a good experience using it?

I have been using Jungledisk for only a few months and have not had to retrieve anything yet - I suppose I ought to try now rather than when I really need it!  Basically i am using an offsite back up because if someone breaks in and nicks our gear at least w have an offsite back up.

The other thing you all might want to look at is http://www.orbicule.com/undercover/

Just wondering in what way Entourage is more powerful then?

To be honest Mark i had not actually looked at the latest version until you stood up for it. It does look a lot better than it used to be - smart folders looks very good. Its stuff like that - or setting rules in Entourage that I really appreciate. It always used to be a lot easier to manage multiple email accounts with Entourage - Mail seems to have caught up which is great. Perhaps I will go back to mail when I get a 3G iphone!

Dan Benjamin of Hivelogic wrote a seriously good piece on backing up on Mac. It may be overkill for some folks but its a good, plain english overview of the basics.

Great article at Hivelogic, thanks for the link, Leslie.

BTW: How do the good folk at EE configure their personal Mac backup systems?

Probably some kind of mix of Module, Extension, Plugin and cron job I would think 😉

For me I will never ever go back to Entourage. I feel that it was good in its day (yes I know everyone that it is still going I have to help my boss out with it regularly as he can’t figure out how to do things on it!!) but for me there will be no turning back period…

I feel that Mail just has much better integration with the whole of the system as it taps into your address book, calendars and just about everything else really. All the nice natty little bundles you can get too can really make Mail even more powerful although I only really use one or possibly two of those anyway as Mail really does have an awful lot of features built right in.

Hope to see you make the move across soon Simon 😉

    Best wishes,

    Mark

Another vote for the SuperDuper/Time Machine combo, that’s pretty hard to beat.
