    Hey dudes,
    I have been given a task to complete by the 11th of July, this is something that sounds unreal to me, but will sound easy to any good coder, right what I need is the folowing:
      * calendar with an event manager, that makes it easy to add/edit/delete events.
          o when event is created, user groups and individual users can be emailed with an invitation.
          o the invitation contains a link to a form, where the user has to fill in the form with all the required fields (like how many people are coming with the person, etc.) the form will submit the info back to the site and managers (admins) will be able to view the info in the backend.
          o the users are able to view the calendar and see the events that they are invited or can attend.
      * user message system

    can anyone help me with an advice on where to start and maybe there are some premade things that I could use, I mean maybe some OS/free event managers/calendars, maybe anyone has any tips or anything?
    I am a newbie, and I really want to learn how to work it 😊

    I entirely agree with Sock Puppet (oh man, saying that out loud makes me seem crazy ) and honestly believe that this project should and could be handled in less than a couple days with EE even with little to no experience in EE.

    We used to build many applications in CI and still do for things that do not fit into EE quickly, however more often than not EE is the right solution. And in your case I think the $250 spent on a license with quickly be recouped in rapid development time.

    I would take this over to the EE forum and see what you catch for input from them.

    Good luck either way,

    -Lee

    I’ve found Joomla to be limiting in ways that EE is not.  I have personally used EE to build out a full scale bug/issue tracking software that we use in house.  (Loosely based on the tutorial by Lisa Weiss on EE’s site).  So to say the EE could do this is like saying a car can crush a soda can.  Of course the statement is true, but if you end game is simply to crush the can, perhaps you don’t need to start the car at all.

    Depending on the final end result of the project, you might be able to find some free ajax/dhtml calendars out there that would handle everything but the storage of the data.  If that is the part you don’t understand, maybe you better get in the car!  😉

    —We “sew” sock puppets.  We reap crops which have previously been sown.

    Sorry I couldn’t resist.
