    Greetings all,
My only experience with MySQL management has been with phpMyAdmin, but I really like the look of the “desktop application” that Derek Jones makes use of in the CodeIgniter screncast blog tutorial.

Can anybody tell me what it is?

If you have another MySQL manager that you like better than the one Derek uses, you might mention that also. Thanks!

He was using CocoaMySQL, which hasn’t been updated in over a year, but just keeps on working 😊 .

Cool - I’m glad that was what you were looking for.  HeidiSQL is a continuation of the old MySQL-Front, by the same programmer.  I love it, and my only disappointment is that there isn’t a Linux GUI as nice as HeidiSQL.  That’s one of the things that keeps holding me back from completely switching over to Linux.  😕

I am using SQLyog at the moment, but HeidiSQL looks like a nice alternative. Might have to give it a go.

    Cheers (y)

Whoa, that HeidiSQL thing is mighty handy! My host uses plesk, which is a bitch to get to phpmyadmin. This’ll do just fine!

I installed Wine 1.0 on Linux Mint last night and then tried installing HeidiSQL.  The program seems to run fine that way, too, which means HeidiSQL can be a handy alternative for Linux users too.

Damn. HeidiSQL has my approval - speed is far far better then phpmyadmin even in a local environment. Just a few days adjustment and I think it will be a permanant tool on my desktop… Need a third screen now 😛

    Hi Everyone.

I am a new student of php and CI and I must admit I like the organization of CI. I just got my first Mac Pro, set up its Apache2 server, PHP5, MySql and installed HeidiSQL. Then Downloaded CI and put it in my ../Sites/ folder.. you know what am saying.

I watched the tutorial by Derek Jones. He seams to be using a UI desktop application with CodeIgniter and CocoaMySql.

If he is using a GUI for CI in this tutorial, could someone please tell me which application this is?

    Thank you and Merry XMas

There is no GUI for CI specifically (it’s just a set of PHP files).  You’re probably referring to the text editor Derek is using - Textmate.

    Happy Holidays!

To Pascal and all people using CocoaMySql, there’s a new project currently being developed from it, called Sequel Pro. It’s still open source and free (at the moment at least).
Seems good to me and I already switched.

BTW, Good Boxing Day - or St. Stephen’s Day.
