    Hello,

I’m new to EE, but planning to purchase and implement soon. Can anyone recommend a good hosting provider with fair pricing? I have head good things about enginehosting.com, but their pricing is quite high. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I always found EngineHosting’s prices slightly above the market average, but very well worth the price. That may or may not be the case for you as well.

I’m currently with hostmysite.com and very happy, but my web consultant suggested enginehosting saying that installation/configuration can be tricky/troublesome with a provider that isn’t familar with EE. Are they just drumming up more business for enginehosting or are installs really that difficult…? Anyone currently using hostmysite?

    My current plan includes:

    25GB/space
    1000GB/transfer
    600MB/mysqldb
perl, python, cgi, php, ruby on rails
    dedicated ip, ssh access
    $14/month

and I would like to have similar space/bandwidth/pricing or just stay with hostmysite.com.

Well, consider this: I don’t think that Enginehosting has an affiliate program, so what do they’ve go to gain? Personally, I’d be less worried about the install than the overall performance. While there are hosts that are perfectly capable of running a dynmaic system like EE, many budget hosts consider PHP + MySQL an afterthought, as it were, and are not perfectly suited to a fully dynamic system. It doesn’t have to be EngineHosting, though: if you are happy with the performace, stay where you are.

EE is easy to install. I have a similar plan at Dreamhost.

Why not just download EE and try to install it on your account? If you need help, post on the forums.

i have a client on hostmysite, and though i did experience some minor issues, don’t recall them being all that big of a deal. with that said, i pretty much recomend any of my new clients host with enginehosting if for nothing else, just for the peace of mind.

All four of my EE sites are on Enginehosting and I love it.

Quick response to problems and always friendly.

I’m using EE on Dreamhost and it works great now.  I had some speed issues early on but when I was moved to another server, everything was fine.  I’m now on a Private Server and haven’t had any issues at all.

Crucial Webhosting is pretty solid. But I’ve been getting some horrendous MySQL database errors & issues as of 1:00 AM this morning.. It’s now 11:42 AM and the issue has not been resolved yet. On the other hand, I’ve consistently gotten solid speeds off their Split-Shared plan, but will probably jump ship and just throw a box together and just dump it at.. Oh, I forgot.. What was the datacenter that used to host Supernova? >.<

I have been using A Small Orange http://asmallorange.com/services/hosting/

I changed from Lunarpages about 6 months ago and haven’t looked back.  I found them after seeing a lot of positive comments on webhostingtalk.com

They have a 30 day money back policy.  No setup fees. Cancel at any time.  I’m on the medium shared plan ($10/mo).  Everytime I have contacted support, I have receieved a reply within 20 minutes! [they have plans for $25/yr, $5/mo upto $30/mo]

All the plans include unlimited parked/addon domains, emails, mysql dbs, etc.  No “artificial” limits.  You just need to stay in your storage and bandwidth limits.  Includes cpanel.

    Here are two working coupons:

    SAVE5 - $5 off order
    15PCT - 15% off order

Supposedly wiredtree.com is the cream of the crop of VPS providers. Not sure about their dedicated server plans, but according to members at WebHostingTalk.com, they are top notch.

    Anybody have experience with them?

I’ve been with site5 (affiliates link) for 3 years and plan to renew my contract when it’s up in October.
