    Hey,
    I’ve been checking out hosting companies and MT seems like a pretty damn good one, for example, I’ve signed up with aso yesterday and its cool, however if you look at the prise comparison, damn, say for 20 bucks a month with media temple you get:
    100gb of hosting and 1tb of transfer (http://www.mediatemple.net/webhosting/gs/)
    aso for the same money gives:
    2.5gb of hosting and 60Gb of bandwidth (http://asmallorange.com/services/hosting/)

    and mt has a good reputation (at least from what I’ve heard) (http://www.mediatemple.net/company/clients/)

    any good/bad experiences?
    any promotion codes? :D

    That is overselling, but if you want to be impressed with figures then why not go for Dreamhost

    http://www.dreamhost.com/

    * 500 GB Disk Storage
    * 5 TB Monthly Bandwidth
    * 97-Day Money-Back Guarantee
    * Plus many more features!
    * Sign up now for $5.95/mo

    I mean, it’s insane how anyone think they will really get 500GB of disk space with 5TB of bandwidth.

    I would not look at their website at all, but rather get a review from WebHostingTalk, because those people are the ones using it and can give you the most appropriate feedback.

    On Dreamhost this may well be overselling, but on MT it is different because your space is expansive to that limit, you are on a shared san space connected between multiple servers meaning they can add terabytes more storage for less cost with out interrupting the service. The same principle applies to Mosso services.

    MT is known to as one of the leading Web Hosting service providers.

    Currently there are 200,000 domains hosted under MT Name Servers and more than 700,000 domains under DreamHost Name Servers.

    If we take alexa traffic ranking MT positioned 45,889 and DreamHost 18,895 respectively.

    Hope this may help you.

    If you don’t need a dedicated server than I highly recommend DH over MT.  DH has a superior shared hosting package than MT, and for less than half the cost.  Also, in regard to overselling, DH has publicly stated that they stand by the storage/bandwidth amounts offered, meaning that they will not attempt to up-sell you or disconnect your service if you approach your caps.  In addition, DH removed their old restriction on CPU resources.  They will only only shut you down if you are seriously crushing the server.  I believe the MT GS can scale to handle traffic bursts, but if you are building a site that requires intensive processing or that you expect to be receiving high loads of traffic, you probably should have set up a load balanced dedicated environment before hand.

    If you are looking for a dedicated solution and want to try out MT, I recommend their DV hosting.  It isn’t the most powerful out of the box, but you can start small and inexpensive and scale as your needs grow.

    At the end of the day, both are excellent hosts and are quite reliable.
