I’m just in the process of updated my sites from 1.6.2 to 1.6.3.  First two went fine - as per notes, but the third update won’t play ball.

I did all backups, cleared caches, deleted the appropriate folders, uploaded the new folders and then ran the update wizard.

Wizard claimed that I had successfully updated from 1.6.2 to 1.6.3. 😊

However, on going into CP it claims that it is still 1.6.2 🐛

I repeated the entire process and same thing happened. 

I assume that the actual EE files are now all for 1.6.3 - so am I running 1.6.3 incognito?

The website/CP are fine, so this is not a life shattering event, but I would like to sort this out!  any thoughts?

Jan, was your config.php still writable?

Try just updating the file manually. Then make sure the file is writable again.

well - config.php and config_bak.php are both set to 666.

BTW what do you mean by ‘update the file manually’ - from the docs it seems that you don’t overwrite config.php, or have I misunderstood you?

What do you have for this line:

$conf['app_version'] = "163";

(Taken from one of my sites.)

Yes, in this special case just change 1.6.2 to 1.6.3 in config.php, and resave.
