    Hello,

I’m trying to change my site theme but I can’t.  I did a search and it’s not anywhere.  Things I have read appear to be highly complicated for changing a theme.

    1) Is there a simple drop down menu way of changing the theme.

    2) If not, where can I find a direct way to change the theme?  By direct I mean specific directions.  Not to be rude or anything, but please do not tell me to just do a search because I have and it’s really not that clear.  I am evaluating the EE CMS and if I could find a link that says to change theme:

    1) go to admin
    2) site theme
    3) change theme by pulling drop down menu
    4) click save or update or something

    or

    open folder themes>site_themes>ThemeOfChoice

then look for XYZ line and change this or that, or something

The point is that I evaluated other programs such as drupal and I find EE to be much more powerful in many ways, yet I don’t want to pay $250.00 for a program that is so challenging to edit a theme.

I read the argument that it’s for more flexibility but this is not a good enough argument and quite frankly it’s the opposite of flexibility.

Thank you for any answers that may be provided.

Hi, bigsonny - welcome to the forums.  I would recommend reading about one-click theming and ExpressionEngine.  In short - there is no “quick switch” to a new theme.  You can certainly modify your theme, and you can copy/paste templates from the Template Library into your existing templates.

You might also like to read this tutorial to help give you a head start on using your own template with ExpressionEngine.

Just in case anyone else does a search and arrives at this thread, I also found a site with step by step tutorials on how to get up to speed with expressionengine.
