Hi,

What does the star (*) mean?

As a Super Admin I sometimes see the * next to names, normally those that have /system access, but now and again normal members have a * next to their name in the “Active Members” area of the discussion module.

I can’t figure out why these non admins have the *, the logs show nothing other than super admin access. What does the * denote?

They have opted not to be listed in the “currently online” list—but you can’t hide from a Superadmin (or yourself, for that matter.)

Ok, that sounds logical. As a member, where is that located within the control panel?

I think there are two checkboxes when you log in: “Auto-login on future visits?”, and “Show my name in the online users list”. Both are checked by default. I don’t think you can set that at any other time, only when logging in.

I can’t say I’ve ever seen it either, even using my ‘standard member’ account. I thought perhaps it would be an option somewhere, but could never find it.

Looks like there are 3 separate login sections within EE if you have the discussion module installed.
