I’m having trouble with intermittent slowness on several of my EE sites, and I think it’s server-related. Can you suggest a host that is known to do well with EE? Right now, we’re using Dreamhost and GoDaddy, and I’ve seen both of those mentioned in several places on the forum as poor choices.

There’s always good news about engine hosting - affiliated with Expression Engine.

I use site5 without any problems. - If you like them visit my blog and click the banner in the footer for me (yeah for referrals).

Ditto the EH hosting rec.  The servers are geared for running dynamic, db driven sites.

Intermittent slowdowns may well be server related- particularly in a shared environment.  But it could be something like pulling in off site content (if you do that) or a cache that doesn’t clear properly.  Something along those lines.  So if you want to poke your current site on your current host, we can always do that as well.

That said- I love it when troubleshooting something on EH, because I know the server setup is solid.

Also- going to shift this to ‘General’ forums where it’s a bit better fit.

I’ve got two EE sites on GoDaddy shared right now, and I’m seriously thinking about moving them to EngineHosting. I’m experiencing a lot of problems with lost MySQL connections and just general slow response times, and it is getting frustrating.

So, how difficult is it to change hosts? I’ve never done that before, and I’m not sure how to go about it. Changing the DNS stuff is a bit scary as well. I’ve looked through the EngineHosting site and not found this information. I’m not really sure what to ask them in an email.

Well, this comes up every now and then, so there is an article in the Knowledge Base about it 😊
