😉 since i recently posted in the lounge about how much i hate x-cart (oh, i still hate it, but after some help from you guys—thank you matt in particular—i am paying someone else to confirm how much i hate it) i thought i would post something positive: i love jquery! playing with it for the first time for a shopping cart application (this post immediately to be followed with another ‘i hate x-cart’ post…). !!! so fun!!! !!! !!! !!!

I used and liked x-cart at one time.  However, x-cart is the e-commerce platform of yesterday. It had a huge hole blown right through it with the release of the free and open source Magento. Magento sets a new standard for open source e-commerce. In fact, IMHO, nothing comes remotely close.

Yup. Magento 1.0 released at the end of March, I believe.  I’ve played around with it a bit and quite like it.  It’s better than any other e-commerce solution I’ve used so far (and I’ve used most of them 😛).

Haven’t used it on any client sites, yet.  But I have one lined up later in the year where I plan to.

There might even be a Magento-EE tie in down the line considering that Magento’s site it EE-powered.  Plus I think one of the people involved with Magento posted in these forums that they would consider an EE module for Magento if there was enough interest.

well heck. i have an ecommerce client dumping oscommerce and given the latest debacle with x-cart (oh, we’re moving hosts today, fun fun) i’m NOT going to use that ... eeenie meenie minie mo ... i was going to use cubecart because i used that once back in the day and had a much easier time with it. thanks for your input, i really appreciate it. wow, shopping cart discussions have a way of hijacking threads, huh.  😛

Whoa! Magento site is powered by EE?  Sweet! I didn’t know that.

Also… I’m throwing in my vote for an EE and Magento tie-in.
