Yup, Im quite the fan of Notepad++ because it is just so quick to load up. Have found it very hard to leave it for other products like Aptana etc.

I like to have a pitch black background, white feels like it is burning my eyes away 😝 .
I recently made this dark theme (for e/textmate) which i currently use:

m4rw3r I’d feel like I was a terminator if I looked at that for long periods, and go out hunting for Sarah Connor.

... and you need to understand how a relationship works between humans?
I think you will learn a lot from an ORM 😛.

I need a dark background as well when coding for long periods of time. I am susceptible to migraines due to an eye injury a number of years ago.
However, I need a better contrast that the example shown above. The darker foreground colors on a dark background makes it virtually impossible for someone who is slightly colorblind to read. I have high-contrast colors for my syntax highlighting, and a plain, black background. Easy on the eyes even after 12-15 hours straight. I’m hurting after about 3 hours with a white background.

Is this not linked to lighting conditions in your working environment, as having a bright white scrren would hurt my eyes after 5 minutes in a dark room, but a well lit room… I can go for hours upon end

No, it’s not the lighting conditions. I have 160 watts lighting directly overhead, it’s bright, and no flicker, but not too bright.
No, I just don’t tolerate the white background as well with my eye condition, that’s all.
Of course, I discovered the difference in how I worked with differing backgrounds long before a GUI was available. I’m just glad I don’t have to deal with CGA graphics anymore. Almost any setup on a modern IDE is better than anything you can come up with on old CGA.
If you don’t know what CGA is, then you definately weren’t around for the PC revolution.

Being a 19 year old student, can’t say I was around for the PC revolution, and after googling what CGA was, I’m glad 256 colour displays where standard when I (or rather my dad) got my first computer

I switch between the morning theme and rdark for vim

Was using until recently, so used white bg, but switched to intype about a month ago (I know it sucks, but its cute 😛 ), so got used to the “pastels on dark” colour scheme. I have to agree, dark colours keep you concentrated.

I’m an E texteditor user. I’m using a slightly editted Monokai theme. I used to have some other font, but apparently it reset itself to courier new… Oh well, works for me.

I really have no choice since NuSphere only has white.

Are you chained to NuSphere or something? 😊

I am using Nusphere too and you can customize colors as you want, check in the settings menu.
I have personally a nice dark grey background using Nusphere.
