Hi,
Is it possible to export all of my entries and comments to then be able to import them into the Core version? I’d like to keep all my data but currently only have a need for the EE Core version.
Thanks,
Nik

Nik_L, did you have comments coming from registered users?

Hi Sue,
Thanks for your fast reply! No I didn’t - all my comments were from guest visitors.

That makes things easier.
There are a few extra modules in the non-core versions of EE.
We usually don’t have people downgrade to EECore. Are you on the most recent version/build of EE now?
Before we do anything else, make sure you’ve updated to the most recent version of EE. Just wanting to have the database changes if any already in place.
Make sense?
We’ll do more after that’s done.

I’m on 1.3.2 at the moment (it’s for a friend) and we used to have a gallery on the site, but no longer need it, so EECore now covers everything we need (and more!)
If I understand it correctly.. to upgrade to the latest build I’ll have to pay to access to the download area.. this is something I’d like to avoid, not as I don’t want to pay anything, but EECore has exactly what we need.
I’ll understand though, if it’s necessary.. in which case I’ll probably then stick with the full version. 😊

I’ll ask for feedback from other members of the team before making any other suggestions. In the mean time, why not make a backup copy of your database?
Assuming the expired account was a personal version, paying the fee to get the latest version of EE would certainly be the easiest path to upgrading.

OK, Nik.
There is the other option, back up your database, FTP up the files from the EECore version, and remove the following modules:
email
gallery
mailinglist
member
moblog
pages
query
simple_commerce
updated_sites
wiki
Run update.php from your system directory.
BTW: Make sure you don’t overwrite path.php in the root, and your config.php files in the /system directory.
After you do this, you should be running EECore.
NOTE: Doing this will mean you are not entitled to official support.
I can not stress enough the need for you to back things up before attempting this. Also back up your current site (files on the server) so you can roll back if needed.
Some of these items I’ve listed as modules weren’t around when 1.3.2 was released, so you may not see them in your system folder.
Another alternative would be to rename your existing system folder, and then FTP up the EECore version to the server. Make sense?

Thanks Sue, I’ll give this a try now.

Let us know how it goes. I might have to move the over to Howto.
