Best was to auto expire paid members

    Hi,

I see some historical posts around this topic, but still trying to understand: my site has a paid membership group (i.e., pay with SCM, switch to a paid member group). My problem is that I don’t know how to time limit (or auto expire) members. Ideally, people buying today would expire in X months (6 or 12 months) as a default, to the default (unpaid) group.

Or, I’d be able to do some control panel membership management. I can’t seem to find a module around this, etc. Would appreciate any good ideas?

    Thanks, David Harper

This is an oft-asked question, but unfortunately there is no real EE-based solution for this.  Some people have used aMember to handle this sort of thing successfully.

This will be one of the first things I tackle in EE 2.0 (assuming EL doesn’t add it in) but for now you’ll have to manually monitor the membership dates.  I have a site that has 1-year memberships, so I don’t need this feature for another year or so. EE 2.0 will be long out by then.  I’ve been playing around with CI a bit and I think it will be easier to implement with it.  Plus if there are any changes to the member module, I will want to take those into account as well…no point in creating something now and then redoing it in a few months (at least not for my needs).

Thank you VB. So, we don’t know whether EE 2.0 will have this sort of feature? David
