I ran across a full shopping cart using CI called opencart. it seems promising and worth a look

OpenCart doesn’t use CI… but it is probably one of the best options out there right now.

I just edited my post from a while ago because I didn’t want to give bad advice.  Magento is a beast and not a viable option.

Since that post I also tried virtuemart and I may dare say it is the same if not worse then oscommerce.

I also found opencart about 6 months ago and I really like it.  I totally agree it is the best coded option but it really needs more features before it is a real option. It is perfect for small stores with less demanding needs at this point. The loader is almost identical to CI, the MVC folder structure is pretty close too as well as some other things.  I asked the developer about it and he said he did use, I forget, CI or Kohana as inspiration for some of the code.  Just wish it had the features of the big carts.

It’s kinda funny that CI 1.72 has a cart, but there has been such little activity with e-commerce applications in the CI wiki. Why not make one for yourself?

Open Cart has generated some negative publicity lately. It’s seems to be the attitude of the lead developer/chief architect concerning CSRF security holes pointed out politely by a developer. Please see this link.

This is why I like the CI forums: friendly, helpful, professional and courteous. Maybe the leader developer/chief architect should hang around here to learn some much-needed life skills?

Wow, a lot of suggested shopping carts here.  I guess I got to research into some of the more popular ones mentioned here.

    Thanks for sharing.

I have been using opencart for my e-commerce projects and offering to my clients. It is really easy to develop and already added extras like cu3er banner management. Last week I downloaded and installed TomatoCart http://www.tomatocart.com/ which is surprisingly very well done with JsExt framework. I advise you to have a look at it.

You can try DotNetNuke. They have a shopping cart in their base. But you can also go to snowcovered.com and get ecommerce module there חברת ניקיון

I’ve released a free comprehensive and flexible shopping cart library for CodeIgniter called ‘flexi cart’.

Rather than act as an all-in-one e-commerce package, the library can be used as a toolkit to build highly customised e-commerce features into a new/existing CodeIgniter project.

The library features include shipping, taxes, discounts, reward points/vouchers, multiple currencies, stock control, surcharges and many more.

    Check it out at http://haseydesign.com/flexi-cart/
